Void or Emptiness

Void or Emptiness?

(Yet another 20th, and here is my new set of scribblings written yesterday evening, for which sole idea came from dear friend Adiornab yesterday….and the pen started running fast… Waiting for your reading, response, appreciation, critique, and even criticism :))

Once the ‘Mind’ asked the ‘Soil’
As the inevitable D-Day comes,
you would consume entire body
What would happen to the ‘Toil’,
that was urged by the life Karma
but necessitated by own ‘Soul’!
The ‘Soil’ was spontaneous
in her well thought response
It would be nothing, but ‘Void’!

Realising my bewilderment, the
Soil continued her trail & troll
And She explained……..
Despite me being perceived as
a volume of the solid particles,
the Air & Water – my two worthy
partners constitute the Void!
Likewise, you with memories
as solid particles of experience
have the intangibles & tangibles
as parts of emotional chord!

Under sudden immense stress,
it’s like compaction of the Soil
That releases Air & Water from
its pores to counter the life’s Coil!
Similar to when Mind does,
while losing all intangible emotions!
under a steady load of burdens
and shrinks its desire for the
inescapable limitless erosions!

Is it so simple or complicated?
That like Soil, Mind also needs
to settle as fully consolidated!
To be able to hide in a place
or empty itself for a free space!

So Mind had another question!
Is it the ‘Void’ or ‘Emptiness’?
Is it the presence of absence,
or the presence of potence?
Is the absence being seen as
threatening, painful & unsafe?
or is it seen as an open space
with fullness and indisputably safe?
Is it a demon to consume the life!
or an abundance of energy & vibe!

Rajeev’s perception senses
that there is a thin line
between the two mortals
It can be absolutely elusive
if not captured in its essence!
Experiences identify absence,
as a need to hide into the Void!
So much so that even if there
is a deep sense of emptiness,
it gets mis-conceived to be de-Void!

Isn’t there need to overcome
this terrible dilemma of life!
That we stop throwing stuff
from physical world of strife!
into ‘Void’, hoping to fill it up
or cling to seemingly solids,
like the Soil that sucks it up!
Rather look at it as a creative
potential of raw ‘Emptiness’,
that’s not threatened by space
And extracts life from the
wilderness of ‘Nothingness’!

  1. In my understanding , void creates pain, emptiness ensue hope and enthusiasm. Thought provoking discretion. The essence of life is usually simple and concise whilst expressions elaborate. Nevertheless, both have there own joy.

    1. Really you are a juggler of words. The narrative is very well articulated and is a product of perception. The reality and perception are, at times, poles apart. Soil is stated to be an assimilation / integration of particles, air & water and the disintegration of this bond is said to have caused emptiness or void! This has most solicitously been deliberated upon. To my mind, anything which leaves its place with a hope to be filled again is called emptiness, and a situation of no return is void. Any emptiness where collapse is perceived is void. Devoid of that perception of collapse is emptiness. Hope is emptiness while its absence is void. It can be evaluated as physical & chemical change like temporary and permanent. Soul is a native of Sachkhand (the Sanctum Sanatorium) and mind is a native of Braham Lok. While descending, at Trikuti (Daswan Dawar or Tenth Door) they got knotted. No doubt soul and mind knotted together is called the physical form and its toil is karma. To perform any karma / action, physical form is the prerequisite. But karma’s do neither bind mind and soul to give rise to the physical form nor it is its byproduct. Their unbinding (non toiling or not performance of any karma) can neither untie that knot nor can it get separated in this physical world. But the moot question is what binds them? It is Shabad or Word. The knot is and can only be untied at Trikuti or Daswan Dwar or Tenth Door and this can happen when the soul (in the form of Shabad / Word) is withdrawn from the nine portals / outlets of the body and get concentrated at Daswan Dawar or Tenth Door. On its way back to Sanctum Sanatorium, the soul leaves the mind at Trikuti and goes beyond.

Yes, in your words “your dilemma that there is a thin line between the two mortals (in fact both mind & soul, both are immortal) it can be absolutely elusive if not captured in its essence. “ That thin line is below and above Third Eye / Daswan Dwaar / Shiv Neter.

It is not “Experiences identify absence,as a need to hide into the Void”, it is ingenuousness or lack of knowledge .

Pardon me for expressing my views, which may not be consistent with your views, yet I took that liberty with the optimism that you would be generous and magnanimous to overlook my misdemeanor.

  2. Too good and very deep Sir. Questions and concepts which have been discussed and debated for eons across various civilizations of the world. Vedanta also examines these in depth.
It’s been put so beautifully and seeing the smooth flow of thoughts can’t believe it’s been done in one sitting. An intensely philosophical composition of a genius.

  3. Too heavy for me Sir 🤪. Very nicely written and explained. Though it’s not easy for many to understand and imbibe the very basic simple concept of life and death.
